First off, some upcoming new series releases:

From Closing Time we get a couple of beaten-up Cybermen, and a mess o’ Bitey’s (Cybermats? No. Henceforth they shall all be called BITEY!). Then we have one of the Peg-Dolls from Night Terrors, and Eleven with a beard, for those of you who just don’t have enough Matt Smith variants!

We’re also getting a Bump-n-Go Bitey as well. Too bad he’s not remote-controlled, and I doubt his mouth opens either. Bummer.

From the classic series we get Two Daleks and a Mechanoid from The Chase, which allows you to re-enact all the hilarious eye-stalk nodding and Dalek stuttering from that classic Hartnell serial.

We’re also getting an “Enemies of the First Doctor” set which features the flame-arm Dalek from The Dalek Master-Plan, a Robo-man from Dalek Invasion of Earth, and a Cyberman from The Tenth Planet. It seems this latter set will be a Forbidden Planet exclusive.

Cooler still, we get the Invasion of Time set, which contains Leela in her alternate costume, And the creepy Sontaran Commander Stor (barely-hidden Cockney accent not included), and the De-Mat Gun, the ultimate weapon powered by the Great Key of Rassilon, which fires the beam-of-erase-everything of Rassilon. You’d think they could have packed in a little tin-foil so we could recreate the Vardan energy-projections, eh?

Now, this is the really cool bit, the 1/6 Scale Eleventh Doctor Limited Edition Figure by Big Chief Studios…

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Also pricey, but still awesome! He comes with a whole mess o’ stuff, like 2 Sonic Screwdrivers, the nano-recorder, extra hands (with fingers, ooo lots of fingers!), a hankey, an invitation, and more. For buyers here in the States, the pre-order is now available at BBTS, with an asking-price of $199.00.

And yeah…I already have my pre-order in, and if you are interested in this gem, I’d suggest you not wait too long to put your own pre-order in as well!

After several months of inactivity, thanks in-part to significant erosion of my free-time, Series 6 of DOCTOR WHO is now underway. This week, I review “The Impossible Astronaut”…

This first story of Series 6 opens exactly as it should. With a dedication to the late Elisabeth Sladen (although I think a dedication to Nicholas Courtney should have been there as well), who passed away so very unexpectedly this past week. I will go into greater length and detail on this sad event a bit later. After all, this is a review, and that adventure beckons.

With Matt Smith’s debut season now over and done, Steven Moffat now has the opportunity to truly build on the foundation of the metaphorical house that is now well and truly set down. And its already apparent that he’s going to be doing some very bold, very striking design work this season. So with that said, let us proceed.

Pre-orders will likely be up soon for participating US retailers as well, so for the other US fans, please support your state-side retailers and wait for their pre-orders to show if you feel you must pre-order it. Keep in mind that the demand may be high, this is not an exclusive like the Classic TARDIS sets, but a mass-market release, so the production numbers will be much greater than those of the exclusives.

Forbidden Planet lists the release as the 8th of August, but we’ll see if that date stays in place.

Last week’s episode ended on a tragic note, and after that we need something a bit uplifting. Fortunately, we’re getting it, thanks to script-writer Richard Curtis.

Doctor Who has a long history of including major historical figures, including some notable artists and writers as well over the past 5 years. These included the likes of Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare, Agatha Christie, and now, Vincent van Gogh. By the time the end titles rolled, this particular excursion into history had become something quite special.

Yes, I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, and was rather busy with work and other things that didn’t leave much time to update the site. I have my work cut out for me getting caught up. But that’s okay, it gives me something to shoot for, doesn’t it?

Anyway, I’ve added a new gallery to the Multimedia section, containing several photos of my newly acquired Exclusive Seventh Doctor and Electronic TARDIS set, which is something I pre-ordered back in March from Big Bad Toy Store. There’s been a bit of a flap over this set, and to a lesser degree the Fourth Doctor and Electronic TARDIS set as well. It seems that Character Options under-produced this particular set, and most participating retailers did not receive as many as they had ordered. The allocations affected retail sites like WhoNA, which received about a sixth of the number they had requested, and also the aforementioned BBTS as well. This has left many would-be buyers rather unhappy about the situation, and its unlikely that we’ll get any real explanations from Character Options.

At any rate, I was lucky since I had pre-ordered mine early on. As such, I finally got it on Friday. You can see the full set of photos right here, and I hope you enjoy them!

I do wish to apologize for the long delay in my review for “Flesh and Stone”. I’m recovering from a bout with the stomach flu, which was none too fun I can tell you.
