The official Green Lantern movie thread

Can Batman really breathe in space? Who would win in a battle between John Byrne and Erik Larsen? Love your Transformers? Are you just nuts for mint-on-card in general? This is the place to talk about it!

Getting the email address for a director is easy. Staying off their spam/junk rules.......now THAT is the trick

Funny that you posted that, had a co-worker wear a pair of those to work on casual day.

It will be interesting to see how the suit appears after the 9 million dollar renovation. I just want the sheen to be gone. It gives the suit a weightlessness that I think is my biggest problem with it. It doesn't seem to be a part of him, it is just water painted on him.

Okay, after the big-ass pre-THOR trailer, I am now eager to see this flick.

If reports are accurate, the $9 million is not going toward "fixing the suit." There is a late movie CG heavy battle scene that was on the verge of being cut altogether because the effects work was not up to snuff, but Warner Bros. threw some more money at it to save it.

Damn, that bites. The other story I read insinuated they were fixing the suit as well, son of a.........

I agree on seeing the Green Lantern trailer in front of Thor on the big screen, looked really good. Suit still wasn't thrilling, but there is plenty of other stuff I am loving.

I heard the 9 million was just for the mask.

Yeah, I went back and looked at the Total Film link I posted. They say that the extra money is specifically for improvements on the suit. But if you go to the source of their story, Variety, there is not a mention of the money going directly to any one thing. So either the author of the Total Film story made an assumption, or they expanded on the Variety story with information they knew, but Variety wasn't saying.

This isn't necessarily something to be concerned about since the 3D conversion was never figured into the budget and an all CG scene cut during script development was re-added to the film after the studio saw and early cut of the film. With the main effects houses working on the film, Sony Imageworks and Rising Sun Pictures, already working with a full plate another studio, Pixomondo, was brought in to work on the sequence. The effects budget for Green Lantern, now at fifty four million dollars, is still comparatively small given the fourteen hundred effects shots in the film and the task of bringing a film that includes thousands of aliens and other worlds to life. Of all the effects laden films on the calendar for this summer Green Lantern is perhaps the most ambitious project on the slate so there is little wonder that it is a "troubled" production given the tight post-production schedule on a heavily promoted film such as this.

Yeah, that seemed to be the same thing with the LOtR films. On the expanded edition appendices, they were always down to literally hours before having to deliver the films putting effects shots in. I think these folks get off on being under the gun, LOL.

Martin Campbell says 3D sucks and he didn't shoot Green Lantern with 3D mind, so don't see it that way.

I love that man more everyday.
