So the GI Joe movie doesn't look like total garbage.

Can Batman really breathe in space? Who would win in a battle between John Byrne and Erik Larsen? Love your Transformers? Are you just nuts for mint-on-card in general? This is the place to talk about it!

I mean, from a "look at that cool shit" sort of perspective.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced...

Did...Did I just see B.A.T.s in that trailer?
I think I just saw B.A.T.s in that trailer.

Yeah but, for a GIJoe adaptation, that's pretty good, at least I thought.

Then again, I was never a fan of GI Joe.

I fail to understand what your upset about.

I see Destro, Baronness, B.A.T.s, two Ninjas, a Top Secret Special Mission Force...

I don't see: Cobra-La, Golobulous, Serpentor, Nemesis Enforcer, or Duke going into a coma.

I fail to see how this movie is going to be shit. If anything, it's invoking the feel of the only good part of the animated movie: The two minute opening.

I didn't see Destro. I saw a Scotsman in a suit....but I did not see Destro. You can change a lot of aesthetics when doing an adaptation....but if you take Destro out of the mask, you take the character out of Destro.

Based on what I got from this teaser spot, it left me with the impression that Street Fighter with Van Damme is a more accurate example of a GI Joe movie.

I'd respectfully disagree there. We know from other material that the mask is present, it's just that Destro doesn't wear it (at least not until likely the climax of the film).

They're focusing more on Destro being a businessman/arms dealer in this adaptation, and not many businessmen or arms dealers would be taken seriously if they went around in metal masks all the time.

This teaser is hardly a good basis for a unbias opinion, but from what I saw Eccleson's performance "felt" like Destro.

Unless he's Tony Stark.

Seriously, though, I reacted more negatively than I should have. I'm probably not the target audience for this movie, as I am very much an old school G.I. Joe fan. So old school that I was there buying the original non-swivel arm first wave figures, clipping the Flag Points off the packaging, and mailing those points off for my Cobra Commander figure. G.I. Joe was a big part of my youth. I lived and breathed it.

With that in mind, any expectations I'd have for a G.I. Joe movie (which is something I'd dreamed of for years and years) would be far higher than they'd ever be able to deliver on. I've got my Sunbow cartoons and my Larry Hama comics. I'll let the next generation have their G.I. Joe, while I continue to love mine.

I can't really tell much from that, other than what I already knew: Dennis Quaid as General Hawk is a stroke of genius.

Oh, I can complain about the Baroness as well, and I will.

The Baroness is clothed. This is unacceptable.
