New topic posting error

Several of you have already mentioned an error that crops up when you start new topics. It seems to be related to topic-length, and we have found that if you edit back your text-count, you can usually successfully start the new topic.

This coming weekend I'll be upgrading the board software, and that will probably fix the issue. Until then I will check the settings and see if that addresses the issue in the meantime.

I had it a few days ago... and it was like pulling teeth to get the topic started. What worked for me was to start the topic with a title and placeholder text, once that was up I'd hit edit and add ONE LINE AT A TIME, save, then hit edit again... which was about all it would accept. Eventually I got the note up, but it took a good 30 minutes. Even then for some reason it seemed to have a rather small cap on how much you could have in that note.

Indeed, and I'm really not sure why. I've taken a look at the post character restrictions, and the error doesn't make any real sense.

I've just now started getting this

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /corvuschatter/posting.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

With a 406 Not Acceptable as the error/window name.

Yeah, that's cropped up for a couple of people.

Okay, the error still crops up even with the board software updated, and I've found out why. It seems to be an issue with Apache's mod_security. I'm probably going to have to report the error to my ISP and see if they can update Apache.

Have you tried any shortcuts to get around the problem (like shutting off mod_security or increasing the suhosin variable limit) until your provider fixes Apache Corvus?

I have not tried those. I will check today and see if that helps.
