How do you find other gamers

Postby Ayeima » Fri Apr 30, 2010 6:39 pm

Yesterday I spent 2 hours looking for local gamers on the internet and my google fu is weak because I didn't find any in the area I did find the old group board (O.D.D. for those that care). The Board at the local hobby store is empty and I pretty much know the people running games there. The local convention board (charcon in charleston WV) has people mostly from the charleston area, the only people i seen from huntington are boardgame players...The Local College doesn't have any gaming grops listed that i could find....It seems the Area is all but dried up. Of course I don't know why im looking for new people, don't know if i need to expand my social cirlce again or what...of course last time i did this in a major way I found the O.D.D. group and made some good friends like Corvus and Artempress and others. I don't know I guess im in a Nastalgic mood or something who knows.

When Em and Charles moved, I pretty much gave up on gaming here.

I remain...

Finding a good group is extremely difficult. I mean, it's really not hard to find another gamer, but one you can stand and get along with? Much much harder.

I'm afraid I don't really have any advise on that front. Every time I've tried a different gaming group from my original, it's been a disaster. Sorry.

Yeah we get people that fly by so so i dont know if its the player or we're the problem. We used to larp with over 100 people, then we played shadowrun with a room full of people, now its down to 6 including gm and one of those players is there every other week....I don't know it seems in the area there is a dry market of younger gamers....all i see in the hobby stores are young people playing ccg's and have no interest in tabletoping or anything...

Indeed. Which is, as I said, why I gave up.
